Yulong sire Lucky Vega (IRE) added his fourth first crop Southern Hemisphere winner when Miss Lyra won at Hobart on Sunday. Fourth on debut a fortnight ago, Miss Lyra is trained by Adam Trinder. Miss Lyra was sold by Yulong for $40,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale to Prime Thoroughbreds, and she is the second winner for stakes placed Pageantry (I Am Invincible).
Following a fantastic weekend, the week kicked off in style with a new winner at Toowoomba on Monday with Michael Nolan-trained two-year-old gelding I’m Lucky Two winning at his second start. He becomes his sire’s fifth Southern Hemisphere winner.
Not offered at auction, I’m Lucky Two is the first foal of Sapiero (NZ) (Shocking) who has an Alabama Express yearling filly. A winner, Sapiero is from the same family as Gr.1 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success (Success Express {USA}).

Lucky Vega’s first Northern Hemisphere crop have just turned two and he already has two Irish bred 2023 born winners. His best in the Southern Hemisphere so far is Bjorn Baker-trained Gr.2 winner and Gr.1-placed Within The Law.
Lucky Vega is standing at an attractive fee of $38,500 and has proven to be an incredible investment for breeders, with yearlings selling up to $380,000 in 2025 and averaging eight-times their conception fee.
