Tagaloa’s tally grows with two new first-crop winners

It was a fruitful weekend on the track for Yulong’s second season sire Tagaloa, with two new winners plus further Black Type success for his ever-consistent daughter Salty Pearl in the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Tagline steps up at Mornington

Yulong-owned three-year-old gelding Tagline kicked off the weekend, winning at his second start at Mornington on Friday for trainer Matt Laurie. Tagline had placed on debut, and stepped up his performance when sneaking around the leaders upon straightening, before letting down strongly for Daniel Stackhouse to win by three quarters of a length.

Tagline is the third winner for Rekindled Glow (Redoute’s Choice), who is an unraced half-sister to Group 1 winner Giga Kick (Scissor Kick) and is due to foal to Tagaloa again this spring. Her dam Rekindled Applause (GB) (Royal Applause {GB}) has produced two other Stakes performers, as well as the dam of Yulong stallion Alabama Express.

Stakes placed Alottago breaks through in New Zealand

Lance Robinson-trained three-year-old gelding Alottago became the eighth winner for his second season sire when winning his first outing this season on Sunday at South Canterbury. He was twice Stakes placed in three starts at two.

Sold by Yulong at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, Alottago was bought by Taui Johnson Bloodstock and put through Apex Bloodstock’s draft at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale where his trainer purchased him. Bred on the same cross as Friday’s winner Tagline, Alottago is the first foal of Little Lotte (Redoute’s Choice) who is a half-sister to Listed winner City Of Song (Bel Esprit).
