Yulong and Triple Crown Syndications to repeat winning formula in The Everest

Seven years after Redzel’s all-conquering win in the world’s richest turf race, Yulong and Triple Crown Syndications will look to replicate their proven partnership, with the Joseph Pride-trained Mazu stepping in to the Yulong slot for The Everest in 2025.

Mazu has proved himself as one of Australia’s most reliable and consistent sprinters, amassing over $9m in prizemoney, including taking the Gr.2 Arrowfield Sprint and Gr.3 Hall Mark Stakes, alongside winning and placing in the Gr.1 Doomben 10,000.

The now seven-year-old son of Maurice is no stranger to The Everest, racing in the $20m Sydney spectacle twice previously, having finished third to Giga Kick in the 2022 edition. His characteristic on-pace running style is likely to hold him in good stead next Saturday, as he looks to build on his recent promising third in the Gr.2 Premiere Stakes over this course and distance a week earlier.

“Obviously, it’s disappointing that injury forced Private Harry’s withdrawal from the Yulong slot, but to secure a seasoned sprinter like Mazu is a huge bonus, particularly at this late stage” said Yulong COO Sam Fairgray.

“Mr Zhang has already tasted success in The Everest with Triple Crown Syndications previously thanks to Redzel’s phenomenal run in 2018, and it’s extremely exciting to be partnering with the team again for another tilt.”

“We’re absolutely thrilled to see Mazu lining up in the 2025 edition of The Everest for the third time.” said Sam Manion, Director of Racing at Triple Crown Syndications.

“It’s a race that represents the pinnacle of world sprinting and continues to get bigger and better every year. To have Mazu competing in his third instalment is incredible and a true testament to his class, consistency, and the outstanding team behind him. We couldn’t be prouder to see him carrying the Triple Crown colours on racing’s biggest stage. We’re also delighted to be doing it once again in partnership with Yulong, with whom we’ve shared so much success in the past.”

Mazu joins Yulong-owned Angel Capital and Magic Time at Randwick next week, who run in the slots of James Harron Bloodstock and Inglis respectively.

“There aren’t many who can say they have three genuine chances in the world’s richest turf race.” Sam Fairgray added. “We’re in a very fortunate position this year and looking forward to watching how it plays out on Saturday.”
