Yulong Stud is looking for an experienced and dedicated Assistant Manager to join our team at Yulong Park, located in Bayles, Victoria, just a short distance from the scenic Mornington Peninsula.
As the Assistant Manager, you will support the Property Manager in overseeing all aspects of horse care, staff management, property maintenance, and overall operations. This is a hands-on role and requires a proactive individual to be involved in the day-to-day running of the property.
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Property Manager with day-to-day operations, ensuring the well-being of all horses, managing staff, and overseeing property maintenance.
- Act as the primary contact and lead during the Property Manager’s absence, including handling alternating weekend shifts.
- Assist in the coordination of all aspects of Veterinary care, working with the Veterinary Team, farrier and organising dental and chiropractor appointments when required.
- Daily handling and assessment to manage the overall health, illness, and injuries of the horses, administering medications, vaccinations, drenches, and treatments when required.
- Ensure timely and accurate record-keeping of all treatments, movements, and procedures.
- Assist in the management of horse movements on and off farm and adhere to strict quarantine protocols.
- Oversee property maintenance, including the safety and upkeep of paddocks, fences, and water troughs.
- Assist with the Management of ordering feed, bedding, and other supplies.
- Support the recruitment process including reviewing applications and conducting interviews.
- Support the onboarding and induction of new staff, with a focus on ongoing education in horse care and management.
- Assist the Property Manager with team management, including performance management, feedback and conflict resolution.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment, following all relevant company policies and procedures.

- Demonstrated people management skills, with the ability to lead, support, and motivate staff effectively.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and demonstrate sound problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and time management.
- Approachable, reliable, and professional in manner.
- Full driver’s licence.
