Yulong Stud is seeking a dedicated and reliable Stallion Groom to join our stallion team at our thoroughbred farm located at Segenhoe Stud in the Hunter Valley.
Reporting to the Stallion Manager and Stallion Manager Assistant, you will play an important role in the daily care, presentation, and wellbeing of our stallions. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a world-class stallion facility, alongside a passionate and experienced team.
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing high-level daily care, feeding, grooming, and exercise of stallions
- Assisting with routine handling and movement of stallions
- Monitoring stallion health and condition and reporting any changes
- Assisting in the covering barn, including preparing and holding mares as directed
- Maintaining cleanliness, order, and presentation of the stallion barn and surrounds
- Cleaning, maintaining, and organising gear, rugs, and equipment
- Assisting veterinarians, farriers, and other service providers as required
- Accurate completion of daily records and treatment logs
- Parading stallions for staff, clients, or visitors under supervision
- Supporting other areas of the farm as required
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience handling stallions or colts
- Breeding barn experience preferred but not essential
- A strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- A team-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills
- A current driver’s licence and eligibility to work in Australia
- Experience within a thoroughbred breeding environment is highly desirable
