Workshop Manager – VIC

Yulong Stud is seeking a motivated and experienced Workshop Manager to join our growing team. Located in the beautiful Goulburn Valley region, just outside of Nagambie, we operate a large stud farm across 4,000 acres with a wide range of machinery and farm vehicles requiring ongoing maintenance.

This Full-Time role requires a broad skill set, suited to a versatile professional, who can apply their experience across multiple areas. The successful candidate will have experience managing a workshop or similar team and they will be able to lead and coordinate staff ensuring all maintenance, repairs and operations run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing on farm vehicles and machinery.
  • Maintain a regular and appropriate schedule of servicing for all farm vehicles and allocate tasks to staff.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults/issues, including the diagnostic and repair of heavy vehicles.
  • Test vehicles to confirm proper operation and identify issues that require further attention.
  • Oversee and maintain the farm workshop, including all machinery and tools used.
  • Source and purchase equipment or parts required.
  • Maintain accurate records of all servicing and repair work performed.
  • Schedule routine machinery/vehicle/equipment maintenance, to prolong lifespan of assets.
  • Communicate effectively and work in accordance with relevant managers regarding repair needs, cost estimates and project timelines.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs.
  • Ensure all completed work meets high-quality standards as well as repaired to safety standards and regulations.
  • Ensure all hazardous waste, including oil and batteries, are stored and disposed of safely.
  • Enforce and comply with all company WHS procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a Workshop Manager, preferred.
  • Solid background and verified proficiency as an automotive mechanic or technician, minimum 3-4 years’ experience preferred.
  • Previous experience as heavy diesel mechanic preferred but not essential.
  • Clean and valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in vehicle mechanics, diagnostic protocols and electrical systems.
  • Contribute to inventory control, including tracking inventory life cycle, ordering parts and the safe storage and disposal of materials and hazardous waste.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff.
  • Ability to train and oversee the workflow of mechanics and maintenance staff.
  • Organised, reliable and focused on delivering high standards.
