Yulong Stud is seeking an experienced and capable Stallion Manager to oversee the care, management, and presentation of our stallions at our thoroughbred farm located at Segenhoe Stud in the Hunter Valley.
This is a key role within the business and an exciting opportunity to work in a new, state-of-the-art stallion facility, playing a vital part in supporting the breeding operation and upholding the Yulong standard of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the serving barn during the breeding season
- Overseeing stallion nutrition, fitness, and daily care programs
- Maintaining stallions in excellent health and condition
- Coordinating and managing all farrier and veterinary requirements
- Leading and supervising a small team of stallion staff
- Ensuring stallion barns and surrounding areas are kept clean, tidy, and well presented at all times
- Conducting client inspections and interacting professionally with visitors
- Maintaining accurate records and reporting to management
- Upholding a high level of confidentiality
- Assisting in other areas of the farm as required during the off-season
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience working managing a busy stallion operation
- Strong horsemanship skills and sound knowledge of stallion care and breeding operations
- Leadership experience with the ability to supervise and motivate staff
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A high level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively under pressure during the breeding season
- A strong work ethic and commitment to animal welfare
