Yulong is proud to announce its 2026 service fees and the addition of two exciting young stallion prospects, Devil Night (Extreme Choice) and Private Harry (Harry Angel), to its inaugural New South Wales roster at the culmination of their racing careers this season.
Representing two of the most influential sire lines in the modern sprinting landscape, Devil Night and Private Harry bring together elite performance and world-class speed, offering breeders exceptional and commercially viable opportunities.
A $1.4 million Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling, Devil Night is by the outstanding sire Extreme Choice, himself an emerging sire of sires with sons Stay Inside and Extreme Warrior both producing Stakes winners. Devil Night announced himself with a tough victory over Tentyris in the Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes, emulating his sire as a winner of Victoria’s premier juvenile contest and becoming the first two-year-old since his great grandsire Redoute’s Choice to win the Blue Diamond at only their second start.
He returned at three to place at Group level on three further occasions, including a fast-finishing third in the Gr.1 William Reid Stakes – defeating six individual Group 1 winners – showcasing his speed, toughness, and elite competitive instinct.
“Brilliance, precocity, quality and temperament, all words I’d use to describe Devil Night” said co-trainer John Hawkes, well versed in the qualities of future star sires himself, having chartered the careers of subsequent stallions Lonhro, All Too Hard and Ole Kirk.
“We’ve enjoyed training him, he’s so genuine and honest. Our job has been made easy when they are natural like this bloke. I really think he’ll make a very good stallion.”
Private Harry heads to Yulong with an impressive career headlined by a breathtaking performance in the Gr.1 Galaxy, where he recorded the fastest time this century, falling just 0.16 seconds short of the Rosehill track record. A dominant winner of the $3 million Magic Millions Sunlight, defeating Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot, his performances have cemented his status as one of the most exciting sprinters of his generation.
By World Champion Sprinter Harry Angel, and unbeaten at three, Private Harry is the first and fastest son of his sire to retire to stud. He hails from a pedigree rich in precocity, including top-class two-year-olds Don Corleone and Paradoxium.
Yulong’s Chief Operating Officer, Sam Fairgray, said the addition of both colts further strengthens the farm’s commitment to standing elite, high-performance stallions.
“These are two exceptional colts who bring different but equally valuable profiles to our roster,” Fairgray said.
“Devil Night is a Group 1-winning two-year-old who trained on to beat elite sprinters at weight-for-age, while Private Harry offers consistency at a high level, and some of the fastest sectionals we’ve seen in recent years. The profile and commercial appeal of these two colts could further enhance in the coming weeks, with both looking to build on their records in Group 1’s later this Autumn.”
“Both are outstanding physical types with great minds, and they represent exactly what the market is demanding – speed, precocity, and the ability to perform at the highest level.”
With their combined credentials of proven Group 1 performance, and pedigrees anchored by leading sires, Devil Night and Private Harry provide breeders with two compelling new options, allowing Yulong to lay strong foundations in the Hunter Valley this season.
Introductory service fees for both stallions will be announced in due course.
The Alabama Express rolls into the Hunter Valley
Australia’s busiest sire in 2025, Alabama Express (Redoute’s Choice) headlines the newly established New South Wales roster for an unchanged fee of $66,000. It’s somewhat of a homecoming for the son of Champion sire Redoute’s Choice, having been born and raised just a stone’s throw away at neighbouring Arrowfield Stud.

The meteoric rise of Alabama Express continued this season, with star first-crop daughter Treasurethe Moment adding a fourth Gr.1 win in the Memsie Stakes, while three-year-old Mcwoody claimed the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas, and juvenile colt Alibaba marked himself as one for the future with a win in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview and luckless third in the Inglis Millennium.
The quality of his stock has not gone unnoticed in the sale ring either, selling for up to NZ$850,000 at Karaka and averaging over $500,000 at Inglis Easter.
Alabama Express’ unchanged fee in 2026 represents value for breeders and confidence in the exceptional progeny yet to make their racecourse debuts from Yulong’s own stellar broodmare band.
Tagaloa and Lucky Vega add strength and depth to NSW roster
Also bound for the Hunter Valley are proven Group sires Tagaloa (Lord Kanaloa) and Lucky Vega (Lope de Vega), standing at $22,000 and $27,500 respectively.
Tagaloa’s progeny hit the ground running this season, with the Blue Diamond winner producing a Stakes performer for six consecutive weeks across the spring. Among them, Group-winning first-crop fillies Salty Pearl and Spicy Lu, plus Group performances from four further first-crop runners.
Notable Stakes placings from two-year-olds Vahvay and Miss Chanel, the latter second at Gr.1 level, will also not have gone unnoticed by breeders. An outcross pedigree producing solid tough performers, Tagaloa is a welcome addition to the Hunter Valley stallion scene at a hugely attractive fee level.
Gr.1-winning shuttle sire Lucky Vega, crowned Champion Victorian First Season Sire in 2025 following the exploits of his sharp daughter Within The Law, continued his strong start at stud. Three-year-old colt That’s Gold claimed two Group wins while juvenile filly Cherry Bomshell bolstered his credentials further, taking the Gr.2 Percy Sykes on the final day of the Autumn Carnival.

His seven Stakes horses this season also included another two-year-old Stakes performer in Luna Vega, placed on debut in the Gr.3 Maribyrnong Plate, while he continued to prove a faithful servant to breeders at auction, with third-crop yearlings selling for up to $270,000.
Written still a star
A stalwart of the Victorian barn, Written Tycoon (Iglesia), remains private in 2026, covering a small and select group of Yulong mares only. Rising 24, the nine-time Victorian Champion Sire and former Australian Champion Sire once again proved that class is permanent, producing star Kiwi filly Well Written from his latest crop of three-year-olds, alongside Group-winning colts Grand Prairie and Tycoon Star. Among his two-year-olds to run in 2026 are the progeny of Away Game, Hungry Heart and a full sibling to Tycoon Star – sold for $1.3 million at Inglis Easter Sale.
“He’s in great shape considering his age, he still gallops across his paddock every morning with a smile on his face,” said Sam Fairgray. “Everything is on his terms now, and the team are very attuned to that, he’s a firm favourite on the stallion unit and they do a great job keeping him a happy healthy horse.”
Endless possibilities, commercial appeal and genuine value in Victoria
Gr.1 All Aged Stakes winner Pierata (Pierro) heads the 2026 Victorian roster at a reduced fee of $33,000. Since his arrival to Yulong in 2023, Pierata has covered the cream of Australasia’s race mares with two-year-olds out of Belle En Rouge, Unforgotten, Greysful Glamour and Catch Me all expected to make their debuts this spring.
Pierata has maintained a consistent stream of winners this season, with a higher strike rate than The Autumn Sun, Zoustar and Street Boss, and continued to prove a popular commodity at auction, with his progeny knocked down for up to $450,000.
His 2026 service fee offers breeders significant upsides with the possibility of big things to come as his first powerful Yulong crop emerges.

New addition Vinrock (I Am Invincible) adds elite juvenile form to the Nagambie roster, as the first horse in 44 years to claim both the VRC and ATC Sires’ Produce. Breeders have already poured into the recently announced son of I Am Invincible, standing for a very attractive $22,000 this season, and with good reason. As the only son of his Champion sire to claim an Australian Group 1 at two, and out of a Group-winning daughter of Redoute’s Choice – like Zoustar and Super Seth – Vinrock is a horse to take serious note of this breeding season.
Foundation sire Grunt (O’Reilly) continues to hold his own, as a reliable source of winners, consistently supplying tough good-looking horses very much in his own mould. Standing for $16,500 in 2026, the dual Gr.1-winning miler is not short of Stakes horses either, providing Gr.1 George Ryder winner Veight from his first crop, Gr.2 Tulloch Stakes victor Pocketing from his second, and Gr.1 VRC Oaks heroine Strictly Business from his third.
Excitement is already building for the debut southern hemisphere two-year-olds by Japanese import Diatonic (Lord Kanaloa), a sound and incredibly tough racehorse himself standing at a fee of $13,750. Supported by some of the best mares in Australia in his first season at stud, Diatonic’s first yearlings sold up to a staggering $650,000, and averaged over seven-times their conception fee. As value and upsides go, breeders would not go far wrong with Diatonic.
Dual international Gr.1 star Panthalassa (Lord Kanaloa) returns to Yulong for his third season at an unchanged fee of $16,500. The son of Champion sire Lord Kanaloa, renowned for his fearless front-running pattern, attracted plenty of admirers at the Yulong stallion parade last season and, off the back of his extremely strong first-crop foals, was supported by notable breeders such as Eric Lucas and Bob Peters.
Sam Fairgray was equally complimentary on his first crop. “One thing that stands out is the movement of the Panthalassas. They are very athletic horses, well balanced and with quality.”
“Interestingly, when you look at the mares they are out of, he has dominated and stamped his progeny, all bay/brown with nice heads like their sire. They have good frames too and if they continue to develop into themselves, we will have a lovely group of yearlings by him to sell in 2027.”
Rounding out the Victorian roster are Group winners Growing Empire (Zoustar) and First Settler (Written Tycoon), both expecting their first foals in 2026 after strong support in their debut seasons.
Multiple Gr.1-performed sprinter Growing Empire proved a popular addition in 2025, as Victoria’s most popular first season sire, covering 182 mares including Gr.1 winners Snapdancer and Montefilia.
Meanwhile, Written Tycoon’s Gr.2-winning son First Settler also attracted a solid book of 142, a testament to his good looks, strong outcross pedigree and reputation of Written Tycoon as a proven sire of sires.
Both young stallions remain unchanged this season at $22,000 and $11,000 respectively.
