Growing Empire set to conquer The Everest

Star three-year-old Growing Empire is set to conquer new heights on Saturday, 19th October as Yulong’s 2024 runner in The Everest.

The Ciaron Maher-trained colt has already claimed four Stakes wins in 2024, including a brazen victory in the Gr.3 McNeil Stakes prior to his defeat of subsequent Gr.2 Danehill Stakes winner First Settler in the Listed Poseidon Stakes. Stepping out in Gr.1 company for the first time on his most recent start, Growing Empire demonstrated his sheer raw talent with an incredible run in the Gr.1 Manikato Stakes, finishing a short second to battle-hardened stable mate Southport Tycoon.

“Growing Empire is a hugely exciting colt for Mr Zhang and the whole Yulong team, he’s extremely talented with a blistering turn of foot” said Yulong General Manager Vin Cox.

“On his last start, he showed us he is a true Group 1 competitor. Three-year-olds have an outstanding record in The Everest and Growing Empire has every chance to build on that success.”

The son of Zoustar bids to follow in the footsteps of previous three-year-old winners Yes Yes Yes and Giga Kick in the world’s richest turf race, with The Everest’s winning-most jockey Kerrin McEvoy set to pilot the gun colt.
