Busy covering his first book of mares at Yulong in Victoria this spring Lucky Vega (IRE) will be heading back to the Northern Hemisphere at the end of the year to continue his stud career with a season at the Irish National Stud.

The Group I winning son of Lope de Vega will join a quality roster that includes stalwart Invincible Spirit, Equiano, Phoenix Of Spain and Decorated Knight.

Lucky Vega is one of three winners out of unraced mare Queen of Carthage, who gained further attention at the Goffs Orby sale this year with her Footstepsinthesand yearling colt selling for €630,000 to BBA Ireland’s Michael Donohoe, acting on behalf of Yulong Investments.

“Mr Zhang has obviously reinvested in this family showing the huge belief he has in Lucky Vega. He will be strongly supporting him at stud over the coming years. With his amazing blend of class and speed we believe Lucky Vega will produce precocious animals with great movement just like him,” said Donohoe.

Lucky Vega is standing in Australia at a fee of $22,000.
