Benedetta is by Hellbent, out of Stakes-placed Whatalovelyday, and hails from a family rich in black-type, including champion three-year-old Lieca Guv and Gr.1 VRC Australian Guineas winner Light Fantastic.
Trained by Ciaron Maher, Benedetta burst onto the scene with four wins in her first racing season. It was in her second season, however, that she established herself as an elite performer, beginning with a victory in the Gr.3 Cockram Stakes and culminating in an impressive win in the Gr.1 The Goodwood.
From that point, Benedetta competed almost exclusively at Gr.1 level, with the exception of a single Gr.2 appearance. This included a tremendous third-place finish in the Gr.1 Black Caviar Lightning, finishing ahead of Switzerland, Traffic Warden, and Yulong’s first-season sire Growing Empire.
Benedetta was purchased for $1.9 million at the 2026 Inglis Chairmans Sale.
