Trainer Chris Waller said on Friday that if three-year-old filly Movin Out (NZ) (Staphanos {JPN}) performed in the $150,000 Mornington Guineas, he’d likely back her up into the Gr.1 Australasian Oaks, and she kept the hope alive for her connections with a stunning 2.25l victory over Mick Price and Michael Kent (Jnr)-trained Storm Season (Toronado {IRE}) with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Fear No Evil (NZ) (Russian Revolution) in third.
“She was a bit unlucky her first run… she ran home solidly in a very good field, and then in the Vinery she just got it all wrong. She’s still learning. She’s got nice ability, but she’s very aggressive. She was much better today, but just in this early stage of her career, you just can’t move on her out of the gates,” jockey Ben Melham said.
“I’ll ride her in Adelaide. She would be competitive for sure. Just out to the 2000 metres, her undoing would be a slow tempo. If she gets it right, she’s more than good enough to win.”
Yulong purchased Movin Out after she ran third in the Gr.1 NZ 1000 Guineas at her third start for trainer Bill Thurlow, and she was sent to Chris Waller, where she ran fourth in the Gr.2 Phar Lap Stakes when resuming this autumn, before failing in the Gr.1 Vinery Stud Stakes last start.
A daughter of Wahaha (NZ) (Stravinsky {USA}), she is a full sister to stakes-placed 4-year-old mare The Entertainer (NZ), and a half-sister to stakes-placed The Buffer (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}).
