Gr.1 All Aged Stakes winner Pierata joins Yulong

As the best son of one of the most exciting young stallions in the country from a stallion lineage of Champions, Pierata’s racetrack career, highlighted by his superior ability and fighting qualities, forms an outstanding foundation for breeders to access the exceptional son of Triple Crown winner and Champion First and Second Season Sire Pierro.

Pierata has been well supported by the industry since his announcement at stud, first in the Hunter Valley for his debut season, covering 169 mares, then in Queensland where he covered books of 143 and 139 mares.

Big things are expected as Pierata’s first-crop progress towards their racecourse debuts, not least after his standout first book of mares led to a great reception at Magic Millions in January.

“He’s a stunning individual himself and we have seen him produce beautiful types in a similar mold that have been picked up by all the top trainers,” said Fairgray.

At the head of those was the first foal from dual Gr.1-winning mare Loving Gaby, who sold to the mare’s former trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace for $800,000, while a colt sold to Guy Mulcaster for $650,000. Matt Laurie and Justin Bahen secured a colt for $550,000, and Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott picked up a filly for $500,000.

He was crowned leading first-season sire by aggregate at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

An elite sprinter defeating 39 individual Gr.1 winners of 79 Gr.1 races highlighted by Trapeze Artist, Bivouac, Brutal, Exceedance, Nature Strip, Santa Ana Lane and Redzel throughout his career, Pierata’s defining moment came in the Gr.1 All Aged Stakes during the Autumn carnival at Royal Randwick.

Outside of the top five only twice in his 26 career starts which netted in excess of $5.8m, another of Pierata’s undeniable highlights was his success in the Gr.3 Sydney Stakes over 1200m at Randwick, where he recorded a quicker time than Redzel achieved when winning the very next race on the card, $10m The Everest over the same distance.

A city winner and Gr.2 placed at two, Magic Millions Guineas success and runner up in the Gr.1 Randwick Guineas at three, while at four his wins in the Gr.2 Missile Stakes and Gr.3 Sydney Stakes were coupled with Gr.1 placed efforts in the VRC Sprint and the Galaxy Handicap culminating in his All Aged Stakes win and ultimately awarded a globally recognised Timeform Rating of 126.

At five, the outstanding sprinter once again showed his blistering race sectionals to record success in Gr.2 Shorts Handicap and the Redzel Stakes before ending his career with a nose second in the Gr.1 All Aged Stakes, highlighting his sensational consistency throughout his career.
