Yulong emerges victorious at 2025 TBV Awards

The outstanding achievements within Victoria’s thoroughbred breeding and racing industry were once again showcased on Saturday, 2nd August at the 2025 Victorian Breeding Awards. The night provided considerable success for Yulong, with Victoria’s emerging powerhouse taking out six of the awards at a glittering evening in South Melbourne.

The standout recipient was three-time Gr.1 winner Treasurethe Moment. The daughter of young Yulong sire Alabama Express took home both Champion Victorian Bred Three-Year-Old and Champion Victorian Bred Racehorse following a stellar season in the green and white silks.

Consistent top-level performances across both Victoria and New South Wales saw the homebred filly secure the Gr.1 VRC Oaks and Gr.1 Australian Oaks, a cross-state double not seen in nearly two decades. Her third top-level win in the Gr.1 Vinery Stud Stakes made her a true star of the season and she looks set to build her profile further with an exciting spring campaign already outlined.

Treasurethe Moment (Alabama Express x Draconic Treasure) wins the Gr.1 VRC Oaks at Flemington Racecourse.

Treasurethe Moment was not the only standout performer raised on Yulong’s Nagambie property this season, with the exploits of Gr.2 Tulloch Stakes winner Pocketing (Grunt) and multiple Stakes-winning two-year-old Within the Law (Lucky Vega) contributing to the farm taking out a first Champion Victorian Breeder title, as well as VOBIS Nominator of the Year.

The aforementioned Within the Law was also crowned Champion Victorian Bred Two-Year-old, with the first-crop daughter of Lucky Vega recording three wins and three placings from her seven starts, including a win in the Gr.2 Sweet Embrace Stakes and second in the Gr.1 Champagne Stakes.

Within The Law (Lucky Vega x Contract Signed) thrusts late to take the Gr.2 Sweet Embrace Stakes at Randwick.

Her sire Lucky Vega was far from a one-trick-pony, siring a further five winners from his first two-year-old runners, including Karaka Millions second Vega For Luck. Topping the Victorian freshman’s sire table by winners, earnings and Stakes winners, the Irish-bred son of Champion sire Lope de Vega cemented his own first sires title when crowned Champion Victorian First-Season Sire.
