The first and fastest son of World Champion Sprinter Harry Angel at stud

The first and fastest son of Harry Angel to retire to stud, unbeaten three-year-old sprint sensation Private Harry will join Yulong’s elite stallion roster in 2026, standing at the newly established Segenhoe Stud in the Hunter Valley.

By World Champion Sprinter Harry Angel, Private Harry represents one of the most potent speed sire lines in modern breeding. Harry Angel has already delivered elite Australian performers including All-Star Mile winner Tom Kitten and Stradbroke Handicap hero War Machine, while tracing to the influential Acclamation line that produced global sprinting phenomenon Battaash, alongside leading European sires Dark Angel and Mehmas.

Bred by Rhinewood Pastoral, Private Harry boasts a pedigree steeped in speed and precocity. His dam, Happy Pilgrim, was herself a winner and is a half-sister to two Stakes performers, Snipzu and Paredo, the latter the dam of this season’s high-class two-year-old Paradoxium. Happy Pilgrim is by Congrats, an outstanding broodmare influence and damsire of international Group 1 stars including Japanese globetrotter Forever Young, three-time US Grade 1 winner Shedaresthedevil, and Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint heroine Caravel.

Brilliant from the outset, Private Harry announced himself with authority, winning on debut before delivering a devastating seven-length demolition at his second start. His meteoric rise continued with victory in the inaugural $3 million Sunlight Plate, where he outgunned Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot, showcasing a high cruising speed and explosive turn of foot rarely seen.

His next challenge came in the Gr.1 Galaxy at Rosehill, a race steeped in sprinting history and previously won by the likes of Nature Strip, In Her Time, Eduardo and Mariamia. Rising to the occasion, Private Harry preserved his flawless record in emphatic fashion, accelerating clear inside the final 200 metres to defeat Gr.1 winners Briasa, Uncommon James and Lady Laguna.

Stopping the clock in a scintillating 1:02.67, he recorded the fastest Galaxy time this century, falling just 0.16 seconds short of the long-standing track record set by Westicaro in 2007.

Yulong’s Chief Operating Officer Sam Fairgray praised the colt’s rare blend of speed and substance:

“Private Harry offers elite-level consistency and some of the fastest sectionals we’ve seen in recent years, everything you expect from a sire line renowned for pure speed. He’s also a strong, masculine, good-looking colt with plenty of substance, exactly the type of speed breeders gravitate towards.”

Well-credentialled both on pedigree and race record, Private Harry is an exciting proposition for the 2026 breeding season.
