Horticulturist

Yulong Stud, a prestigious and renowned thoroughbred breeding operation, is seeking a skilled and passionate Horticulturist to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the presentation of our stunning properties and surrounding landscapes, enhancing the beauty and aesthetic of Yulong Stud.

We are looking for individuals who enjoy working as part of a team, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and bring relevant experience to the role.

As a Horticulturist at Yulong Stud, your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining and enhancing the immaculate presentation of our lawns, gardens, hedges, tree beds, and rose gardens through meticulous pruning and trimming techniques
  • Identifying plant health issues and addressing them promptly, implementing the necessary treatments and preventative measures
  • Assisting in the creation and upkeep of visually appealing outdoor spaces that complement the overall aesthetic of Yulong Stud
  • Contributing to the management of horticultural supplies, machinery, tools, and irrigation systems
  • Operating machinery safely and efficiently, always adhering to operational guidelines
  • Identifying potential health and safety hazards and emphasizing the importance of using personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Assisting with general maintenance and groundskeeping tasks as required

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of one year of practical experience in horticulture
  • A relevant qualification in horticulture (desirable but not essential)
  • A current Chemical Safety Certificate (desirable but not essential)
  • Proven ability to professionally trim hedges and roses to the highest standards
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining exceptional standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A current, valid driver’s license
